So amazing and sad to see those animals, and yes I did have happy/sad tears. Thanks Lan for the Haloum tip, I usually just rinse it to take out the salt, but it's always a bit rubbery, so will try out your method. xx
I love Maggie too! Was gutted when her Good Weekend column, Style Notes, was cut. Been following her blog and now Substack ever since. AND I MET HER ONCE (at a book signing in Mosman Library). Of course she is just as wonderful irl. Love her books, this one is on my tbr pile. I too still miss my cat Daisy who was with me for 17 years x
You, me and Maggie - I didn’t realise we had a friend in common!! I read Would You Rather in my between Christmas and New Years reading frenzy. I really enjoyed it, though I cannot imagine swimming in Hastings! We’ve spent time there in summer and I think we all had jumpers on over our summer clothes, each day!
That clip on the dogs being rescued is beautiful.
I hope the getting-ready-for-renovations goes well.
We lost our Kali back in June and reading this brought it all rushing back. Grief is like that I suppose. As for the coffee pretensiousness… yeah and nah… and thanks for the book recommendation.

What are you soaking the haloumi in, Lana?

Of course we have a friend in common. I actually thought about you when I wrote this because I think we are friends even though we've never met. xxx

We lost Henry three years ago and sometimes I still get home and am whacked by the emptiness of the house without him.
